Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the US. She's been a media critic since 1995. Feminist Frequency is a website with video and an online blog analysing portrayals female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in the pop culture. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes that are associated with females in popular culture, she works to highlight issues related to targeted exploitation of women as well as other classes of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public presenter. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age Sarkeesian was captivated by issues of gender identity and feminist thinking. When she was still in school, in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency Website. This ambitious woman planned to start an internet-based program that would examine the role of gender in games however, she was also the subject of an online campaign to harass her. The attack did not deter her instead it only strengthened her resolve to be a feminist media critic. As a result of the many achievements she's made for feminist movements, she has been awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media journalist. She also serves as the founder and director of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organization that explores pop culture representations of females.
